Applying for a Legal Aid Ontario certificate

Tuesday, May 19, 2026
12 to 1:30 p.m.

Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) provides legal help to people in Ontario with very low incomes. One way LAO helps is by giving people who qualify a legal aid certificate. A legal aid certificate covers the cost of a private lawyer to work on a person’s legal problem for a certain number of hours.

LAO certificates are an essential resource that many people with low incomes rely on to get legal help in Ontario.

This session will cover:

  • the services LAO certificates cover
  • who qualifies and how to apply
  • the types of legal issues covered
  • the limits of LAO certificates
  • common challenges

ASL interpretation will be available.

This webinar will be recorded and available online later.
