Challenging CERB and CRB overpayment notices
Tuesday April 4, 12-1pm
CLEO Legal Information Webinars image

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, over 25% of people living in Canada received the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB). Many had lost their income and were relying on this to help cover the cost of basic necessities. However, in the last year, the federal government has been demanding that thousands of recipients pay back their CERB or Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB). Many of these recipients are low-income people struggling to make ends meet.

How can community workers support clients who receive an overpayment notice? Join our webinar to learn about options for challenging or appealing a notice. Information will also be shared about financial hardship and requesting a repayment plan from the Canada Revenue Agency.

Speakers:
Amy Brubacher, Staff Lawyer, Don Valley Community Legal Services
Nabila Qureshi, Staff Lawyer, Income Security Advocacy Clinic (ISAC)

ASL Interpretation will be provided.
