Transitioning to ONCA webinar and more!

Since the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA) was proclaimed on October 19, 2021, we’ve given over 40 presentations to networks of nonprofits around Ontario on how to transition to ONCA. Couldn’t make it? Don’t worry! A recording of our presentation to the Federation of Urban Neighbourhoods is available on YouTube. There’s also a 5-minute video about the transition process on our website.

Nonprofits have until October 18, 2024, to transition to the new rules. Visit our website for more information about the steps you can take now to transition.

Accessing the Ontario Business Registry

The Ontario government launched a new business registry on October 19, 2021. The Ontario Business Registry offers simpler, faster, and better solutions to businesses and nonprofits across the province.

To access your nonprofit’s profile and to file documents online, you need a company key. This is a unique series of digits or digits and characters. You may face some issues in ordering a CompanyKey to gain access to the registry if your filings with the Government of Ontario are out of date.

To learn more about how to order a CompanyKey, read the section ‘How to Get Your CompanyKey’ here.
