Renovation rights for Toronto rentersLandlords in Toronto must now get a Rental Renovation License before starting repairs or renovations that require tenants to move out of their units. This new by-law came into effect July 31, 2025. Renters can use the Renovation Rights Assessment Tool to learn about their rights and connect with resources.
