Elder abuse resources

Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario has many factsheets on the different kinds of abuse that affect seniors living at home or in long-term care homes. The factsheets help community workers recognize and deal with  financial, physical, sexual, and other types of elder abuse such as frauds and scams. CLEO’s Elder Abuse Guided Pathway can also help a person learn about or respond to elder abuse.

Legal information for 2S/TNBGD communities

METRAC has a guide to help Two Spirit, transgender, nonbinary and gender diverse people change their identity documents to match their gender and name. JusticeTrans also has information for Ontario’s 2S/TNBGD community on their legal rights in housing, employment, and many other areas.

Advocacy and media training for community workers serving abuse survivors

Luke’s Place has free e-learning modules for community workers serving women who have experienced violence. The modules explain the steps involved in advocating for better laws as a community, and how to work effectively with other groups and with the media.

Landlords and the AODA

The Canadian Centre for Housing Rights has a guide to help landlords understand the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). The guide explains a landlord’s responsibilities towards tenants with disabilities.
